Roll-a-Basquiat Masterpieces

One of most unique modern artists is Jean-Michel Basquat. He was a Haitian painter that grew up in New York City and became of the first artists that was recognized for his graffiti.

His artwork changed how people looked at graffiti. His style is really funky and fun to recreate. Go crazy! There’s no wrong way to do this! Here are some examples of his work!

Here is a fabulous lesson from Lakota Mossey on Basquiat. She reads the book "Radiant Child", which tells a story of Basquiat's childhood in New York City.

Here is the “Roll-a-Basquiat” sheet that she uses. You can use dice or just pick at random to create your masterpiece. You can also just use it as reference.

Materials: glue, scissors, oil pastels/crayons, black paper, construction paper (If you don't have construction paper, I suggest using newspaper! It creates a really cool texture)
